ASSOCIATED PRESS ADVISORY ON SUNSHINE SUNDAY
EDITORS:
For a week beginning March 13, journalism organizations are planning a nationwide campaign called Sunshine Week to press for government access, contending information is being withheld more often by officials who argue that post-Sept. 11 security concerns warrant keeping it secret.
Here's an outline of the stories the AP will offer in conjunction with Sunshine Week:
For release Sunday, March 13:
Mainbar on the bills in the Tennessee Legislature that are designed to make government records more open to the public.
Info box on the Tennessee Coalition for Open Government.
A roundup of editorials from newspapers around the state on the issue of open government and open records.
These stories will move in advance on Wednesday, March 9.
For release Monday, March 14:
Mainbar on the Sunshine Sunday activities of newspapers and broadcasters across Tennessee. This story will move spot Sunday, March 13.
The AP national wire is also moving a package of stories in conjunction with Sunshine Week. These stories will move in advance Monday, March 7.
Questions can be addressed to Chief of Bureau Adam Yeomans or News Editor Chad Roedemeier at 800-453-1282, or 615-373-9988.
