The Tennessee Coalition for Open Government, Inc., is a non-profit and non-partisan alliance of media, citizen, and professional groups working to educate Tennesseans about their right to know about the affairs of their government as set out in the state constitution and the state’s “sunshine” and public records laws.
It seeks to keep citizens, media and public officials informed about developments and threats to these laws, through projects, programs and this web site with an understanding that the best way to preserve and improve access to public business is through research and education.
TCOG’s purpose is to serve as a clearinghouse of information on problems and solutions in the “open government” arena and at the state and local level.
The Internal Revenue Service has determined that TCOG is a 501c3 non-profit organization and thus able to accept tax-free contributions and grants.
